SubWatcher Mobile App

I designed a fully functional app where people can unsubscribe or cancel a subscription directly from the mobile interface, see an organized list of all the subscribed services and their associated costs, send timely and clear notifications to the user regarding upcoming auto-renewals for their subscriptions and provides reports that include details about the subscription, the renewal date, and the associated yearly savings.

My Role

In my role as the UI/ UX Designer, I conducted user research and comparative analysis. Defined key personas and user stories. I created and evaluated my designs through 2 rounds of usability testing, and iterated and prototyped the entire SubWatcher mobile app.

Through my own experiences with budgeting and dealing with the aftermath of the COVID- 19 pandemic, I had to take a comprehensive look at my own spending. Like many other people, I had to “see to believe” how much I was spending on subscription services. With so much going on in everyone’s daily lives, it is easy to forget until you wonder, “ What did I spend all my money on?” What I found in my research was that reminders, a comprehensive view of spending, and being able to see your savings can have a positive impact on your budget.

Truebill dba Rocektmoney

The lists are nice but, seemed unbalanced. Contrast is harsh on the eyes, minimal use of accelerators, and high noise ratio on multiple screens. Some pages could be combined logically.

Trim

Screens do not translate well when viewed on a mobile device. Very minimal use of accelerators. Could not find how to cancel a subscription, the app has a high noise ratio and the user interface looks unbalanced in the mobile browser. Some pages could be combined logically.

Trackmysubs

There are too many folders and colors. The dashboard has no mobile app. No processes can be carried out in different ways. There is very little to no use of accelerators on the pages. I could not find how to cancel a subscription. Some pages could be combined logically. The user interface content and visual design are not focused on the essential functions of the app. The app has a lot of noise as opposed to signals.

Markus is conscious of his spending and tries to manage his family's finances effectively. Gain a clear understanding of all subscription expenses for effective budgeting. Optimize expenses by identifying unnecessary or expensive subscriptions. Find affordable alternatives for subscriptions, especially in a new market like the US.
